Found by a contact of mine in a private yard. Looks to be a Commer based on a Hillman Minx Mark VII around 1954 or so. Can't be many of these ever made never mind left in the world. Would be have a flat head engine too.

You planning on saving it?

Perhaps Bow Island area? I am aware of a Commer truck that was down that way, as part of a large collection of cars, all just parked in a field, I don't know if the collection is still there...

I'm telling you, Sherlock, with the proper shell over the bed, that would make one fine photographic equipment hauler!

I'm tempted to take a look at it - would be nice project. A friend of mine also has an Austin A40 Somerset that could be had - plus I've got a MG B drive train that would go into that. My Beetle would need to be sold off.

I believe it is in the Bow Island area - collection of 400 or so cars.

Yeah... Same yard then, I once saw photos of pretty much everything in it, pretty much American stuff with a couple of exceptions...

Tony... Ya know I'd love to, I suspect this one needs lots of work and I know I'm not up to it...

I don't remember a truck like that - must be getting old! I do remember at that time the Hillman Husky and Commer Cob estates and vans though. Sturdy vehicles, and well worth saving if it's not gone too far.

Seems they were sold in Australia as well (in knock down form on van chassis) - not sure if they were anywhere else. Even info on them is rare.

That is the ugliest van I've ever seen.

Some interesting vehicles there, but only is actually from Calgary... And J2 Vans are quite rare here in Canada to my understanding, they were sold here but I believe only in very small numbers... And I also don't have the ability to rescue any old vehicles at present, I just hope it finds a good home...

And that Riley 1.5? Looks quite nice, and according to one guy I know in New York quite rare, I wonder if this one was known about prior to that listing...
