Left this AM for a mini day trip to Savannah to bring my l'il girl home from college.
Just hit I95 about 5/8's the way there .
Put it up to about 74 and checked my gauges.
My ol Astro Van's not used to these kind of speeds.
Everything checked out but the volt meter.
Read about 11 volts.
Uh-oh!!
in about 5 miles, it dropped to about 8 and the light came on.
Luckily an exit with a town
Found a repair place and it died as I crossed the road into the parking lot.
Wow , that was close.
$325 later I'm on my way.
No warning ...nutton!

The warning you had, and the only warning you'll get, is the "General Misunderstanding" name on the vehicle identification plate.

Astro is one good van, they'll go forever.

I won't tell you what the mechanics at the Chebbie dealerships call them.
I WILL tell you the biggest failure is the "horse collar".
Big, thick, stamped piece that fits to the front of the engine, all the accessories bolt to it. Looks like a horse collar.
They break.
One accessory comes out of alignment, the serpentine belt gets pitched, and you're parked.
Quite a job.
Done a few.

Had 275 K on my first one before I tired of it . Next one i Put 135K on it .
My nephew totaled my last one at 102K and it was just getting broke in.
This one has 155K and it looks brand new .
Both mechanics at that shop could not believe I had that many miles on it
So have put about 670K on my 4.
Best vehicle they ever built

I couls not stand to own one vehicle that long.
I bet any of my vans could do that
