Not quite an LBC - but the size might be close :)

For a couple of years now my weed eater has not worked. This weekend I decided to rectify that. Got it into the garage and started to look. Immediately realized the fuel lines looked dodgy. I also had been using regular (ethanol containing) fuel which has almost certainly gummed up the carb. (I switched to Shell Gold/ non ethanol for lawn mower and the MG a few years ago).

Decided some YouTube research was in order - including rebuilding a carb (Of course rebuild kits aren't available). Nipped over to Amazon to see if kits were available. Yes they are. $21. Oh wait and a kit with a new carb is $14 (CDN!) more - so for $35... couldn't hit buy fast enough.

Will keep you posted!

I have a similar situation with a chainsaw. It runs very sporadically and dies at the most inconvenient times. I need to get it on the bench too and see if I can clean it up so it runs better.
Good luck with the weed eater.

genuinely shocked at the availability of parts. Which brings me to my love/hate relationship with Amazon - I pretty much hate everything about it but there are certain things - like this rebuild kit - that I wouldn't even begin to know where to start to look locally. I am pretty sure I bought it in a big box store and there is no chance they will sell anything more than the most rudimentary of parts and specialty shops won't have Ryobi - cause it's a big box store brand. In a separate but related - we have really cheap halogen potlights in the house and the plugs to the bulbs wear out on a very regular basis. Only place I can find replacements is Amazon - and for the life of me I can't figure out how they get here from China as cheap as they do. Don't want to start an unhelpful conversation, but as crazy as they make me when they come through they really come through.

My RV generator will fire up but not stay running. PO said he did this and that but gave up. Remover gen from vehicle cleaned fuel lines and carb. Reinstalled an still won't keep running. Carb from the A , and try again. Replaced needle and seat in shredder/chipper with alcohol resisitant needle seat and poly float, cured and running. Did same with Honda mini tiller. Changed plug now wife can use or sell. Now on to boat, rebuild three carbs, empty fuel tank, need to use more. Maybe on to real engines by Wed.
