Not holding my breath

So FedEx tracking tells me my SSD board I ordered from B&H is "out for delivery." Based on my recent experience with FedEx, I'm not holding my breath. The last couple of packages that said they were out for delivery, ended up being delivered two days later. If it does arrive today, I'll be pleasantly amazed.

I had a FedEx snafu a couple of weeks ago. Item was scheduled for delivery on a Thursday, Thursday came and went, no package. Tracked it again Friday, it still says "On-Time" (even though they clearly missed the on-time date) but it's stuck in the local depot for no discernable reason. Call the depot the following Monday to see if we can just come pick it up, we're told we can't because it's on the truck for delivery that day -- despite the online tracking system clearly showing it's still in the depot. Tuesday I get a call telling me that they need to set up a delivery appointment(!) because an adult signature is required. (No, it wasn't booze; and for some reason they have no problem leaving a case of wine at the door without knocking.) Okay fine, how about Wednesday between noon and 2pm? Great.

10:15am Wednesday, the driver rang the bell and handed me the package... with a large sign on it saying "WEDNESDAY NOON - 2PM: PLEASE DELIVER ON TIME!"

But that's nothing compared to the shipment of chocolate that USPS sat on (literally) for a week in June. Or the other USPS package that was "out for delivery" yesterday morning but by 5pm was mysteriously re-estimated for delivery today (we'll see). Or the other USPS package that sat in Austin for four days after the delivery date had passed.

I have a small package from the UK (Not one of the major suppliers) that was sent Royal Mail with tracking. It's been in Customs since June 29th. It's now August 15th. I'm not holding my breath either.

I ordered parts from the UK on Monday morning. They are being delivered via DHL and tracking is showing delivery Wednesday,
If the package actually shows up it will be three days from order to delivery from the UK.... fingers crossed.
Basil- Here's hoping your item gets delivered today!

I knew it! Initial tracking said it was out for delivery with estimated delivery by 1:50PM (MST). Well, it's now 2:14PM and no package,. Now the tracking says by 5PM.
Still not holding my breath.

I'm surprised - it finally arrived - just before 5PM

John, you might want to try contacting the customs office. They seem to be very bad at dialing the phone to contact recipients when something is required of them (see my FedEx debacle above). And of course be prepared to have to call back a couple of times until you get the right answer (see my FedEx debacle above).

Sometimes if there is a typo on the form or if there is any oil product in the shipment, they (customs) need a sign off from the recipient. I had a hold up on a shipment from the UK because of a quart of transmission fluid that I really didn't want. Best to call them and see what they need if any. I had to make 4 phone calls before I got the right person and it was settled after I signed a form that I ordered it. PJ

Because of where I live UPS usually takes two or three days to get a package from Lawton to me. We are at the end of Lawton's route and what often happens is it will be marked "out for delivery" when it is closing time so instead if finishing the deliveries the package goes back to Lawton. UPS really only makes it to Fletcher about twice a week.

USPS on the other hand is very good about prompt deliveries. Without fail things marked as being in OKC will be at my house the next day.

agree with all these posts but, just because, let's reflect on what first world problems we have. When I was young my father had no internet to maintain his DKW so, when he flew to Holland he came back with parts in his suitcase. Likewise, when the relatives sent us Christmas Parcels they went out months in advance. I continue to be gobsmacked about not just the speed but the accuracy of the packages I get.

Just for fun
