Not a bad day

Drove the TR8 in to work today, first real drive with the top down. You can see my solution to the black molding that I removed. I got the holes filled, but there was no way to match the paint (in face, it varies across the panels). So I ran a strip of 3M silver striping tape along the side. Not invisible, but much less obtrusive than the black molding.

Looks good, Darrell. From the picture, the tape only accentuates the swage line; nice effect, and not a bad solution at all!

Thanks, everyone.

The wheels are actually gunmetal gray, but Rota's idea of gunmetal gray is pretty dark.

Here is a picture of how I dealt with the luggage rack. Not quite as clean as the molding, but it will do until I decide if I'll paint the entire car, or maybe just the boot lid. I just didn't like the look of the luggage rack at all.

Also a "before" picture, showing the side molding, and the pin stripes that I also took off.

Darrell -

What I did was source another boot lid, and mounted the rack on it. That way, I could swap lids whenever I wanted.

Hi Mickey,

I've been keeping my eye open for one, not so much to swap back and forth but thinking that used lid might be cheaper than having the holes filled. But so far all the ones I've found also have the holes in them. I also need the push button lock, which limits ones that will work.
