Poor planning and an inability to say "no" has caused me to corner the market on Fairthorpes in the US. I bought a Mk 2 (1147cc engine, same as that found in a Triumph Herald), then I found a pair of Mk 1a's (948cc engine, same as that found in a Triumph Sedan -- also referred to as a Standard Ten). The pair of Mk 1a's have only one engine between the two of them, so I'll be hunting for an appropriate motor.

Welcome! That pair: is it the pair that was on eBay recently? Would've been soooooo tempting, if I'd had cash. Almost had a Fairthorpe EM years ago...long story...but there were at least two in the Albany, NY, area for many years. In fact, the Albany area once actually had a Fairthorpe dealer!

Feel free to "PM" me; I'd be interested in hearing more about your cars and where you and they are located, and I might be able to help in the search for a 948cc engine.

Andrew,

The two cars originally came from NY state (about seven years ago), so they could be the pair you remember in Albany.

Hi There Andrew,

"Welcome" to "THEE" best Brit Car Forum anywhere on this planet or any other planet for that matter.

Best Wishes in 948 find. Have you posted your want needs in the "Spridget" classifieds?

Regards, Russ

Welcome Rich! You have an interesting collection of cars! Is your Morgan a trike? Saw quite a few Mog-trikes at Lime Rock last weekend (and a few 4-wheel Mogs at NJMP this weekend). Is the BSA a car or bike?

Russ: The Triumph 948 is different than the Spridget 948....but just happens to have the same cc.
