TR4/4A Non OD rear transmission seal replacement

Hello,

I'm looking for advise on replacing the rear transmission seal on my 63 tr4. The seal is leaking pretty bad and I wonder if it can be done with the Transmission in the Car? From looking under the car it looks a little tight with the frame somewhat in the way. Anyone done it lately?

Thanks,

I'm not sure I'd want to try it from under the car, but if you pull the gearbox cover I think you could do it - you need to unbolt the driveshaft anyway, then you could unbolt the rear engine mount and replace it if needed, and use a jack to raise the gearbox enough to clear the driveshaft tunnel.
