I have recently noticed a chirping sound from the right rear wheel. If I apply the brake, even very lightly, the chirp stops but soon returns. I'm wondering if it is brake shoe related. What can I check?

Probably a sticky shoe or some debris between the pad and the drum. Give it a few 40mph quick stops and see if it goes away.
