No Tail Lights

Putting the car back together after getting it back from the painter's. I put the tail lights in, and the brake lights and turn signals work, however the tail lights do not light when I put the headlights on. Any suggestions would be very helpful. Thanks!

since the brakes and turns work, it implies that the ground is OK. Get a test light and start working backwards. Remember to check the connections under the dash on the passenger side. Do the front running lights work? If so then the problem is after the switch.

I got pulled over by a cop once because my tail lights were out. I had recently been working on the wiring so I was fairly positive where the problem was. I realized, on the side of the road, that it was indeed under the dash. Turns out it was in the headlight switch. I don't remember if that circuit came unplugged or if I just had one of the circuits wired backwards or what, but that is where the problem was. Hope that helps.

Thought it might be that the hazard swith was not plugged in, but after plugging it in, still no lights. The front parking lights do not work as well. Is it possible that if one is not wired correctly, it will cause all of them not to work?

Do the license plate lights work? I believe they will not, my midget has the parking, tail and license plate lights all on the same switch circuit. It might be the light switch? Bust out an electrical meter and start ringing out the wiring. I would start right from the light switch, the problem is most likely prior where the wiring splits to each individual system.

My 2 cents anyway.

It's possible, the switch is a 2 position switch if just the part that controls the parking and tail lights is bad. I would suspect the wiring as a more likely candidate though.
