No seats, no glass & "broken" tires = No clue!

Re: No seats, no glass & "broken" tires = No clue!

Anybody notice anything odd about the picture of the engine? The carbs are on upside down!
But that's OK, I just noticed it look like the distrbuter is on backwards also.

Well, there are updraft carbs, sidedraft carbs and downdraft carbs. Apparently there are also upside-downdraft carbs.

I suspect the reason the dist. is backwards is becuase the rare upside-downdraft carbs require the engine to run in a reverse firing order.

How do you break tires???
The rubber tires froze solid in one of those legendary harsh winters the have in Florida and when he tried to drive the car, they shattered.

Re: No seats, no glass & "broken" tires = No clue!

The successful bidder gets a lifetime supply of moonpies and RC Cola! AND shoes IF he/she wants them!

Re: No seats, no glass & "broken" tires = No clue!

Starting bid $7000 -- Reserve not met!

I want what that guy's smokin'! That's some powerfully delusional stuff!

Will it start if you give it a sound thrashing?

So, the car was running when he bought it two years ago! If he subsequently took the carbs off and turned them upsdide and put the distributor on 180 degrees out, I can understand how he broke the tyres! He probably put them on inside-out!

Just had another look at the pictures and not only is the steering wheel on the wrong side, but in the second picture the whole car is on its side!!

Anyone else notice that the pics seem to be from January 29, 2005? And he says now after two (?) years he doesn't have time to work on it any more.

Wonder what work he did ....

Wow, didn't notice it, interesting.

Re: No seats, no glass & "broken" tires = No clue!

I think you break tires with a tire iron.
Maybe the car has 1 forward gear,& 4 reverse
gears (it probably runs backwards!).

He claims it was "running about two years ago when he got it " which was about when those pics were taken. I figured that it was just my overly suspicious mind at work when I suspected he might possibly be stretching the truth just a little... :yesnod:

Re: No seats, no glass & "broken" tires = No clue!

goodgawd.

That's about as blatant an example of ignorance as I've seen in a LOOOONG time. If I had four hours of my life to waste it'd be interesting to track it down, just to find out the ~real~ story. $7K?!?!

"Very impressive, young Skywalker."

feh. Must be some high school kids got their hands on Granfar's unfinished project, think it's got "sell-ability".

One way or the other Donn's right: s c a m.

Doc: "Must be some high school kids got their hands on Granfar's unfinished project, think it's got "sell-ability"."

Sounds likely. But consider: another recent BCF topic was about a guy who's sold over 300 "power boosters" for $15 each, which are really just 10¢ resistors that do absolutely nothing toward power boost.

Wanna bet someone will see that TR, say "look - a real garage find!" and plunk down $7K as a *surprise gift* for their spouse who will then fork out mucho dinero to fix it up?

And then the seller can buy even more bling!

As we say in south Texas ... oy vay's mir.
