NO Oil Pressure!!!!

I put my 216 chevy engine back in my 1953 chevy 5 window pickup and fired it up. No oil pressure. I installed a new gauge and still no luck. If I disconnect the oil line on the side of the block it shoots oil across the shop. The engine had good oil pressure before I removed it and replaced all the gaskets. No rebuild was involved just a freshing up (new gaskets.) I guess my first step should be to make sure the line is not cloged ( though I dont think this is the issue.) There is a knocking sound comming from the number 6 cylinder. The engine is not a full pressurized engine. It has dippers and no oil filter. any Ideas?
