It's official, I clocked out for the last time tonight at 8. Monday starts my new job building industrial robots. And the side bonus of all this is I now have one kickin' set of tools at home to work on the TR2. I need to take my own tools to the new job, but it's a far more limited set required for what I'll be doing there. So I'm packing up my smaller home set and taking that in.
I'm beat tonight.. already put in 48 hours this week, and moved that monolith of a box tonight to beat the predicted storm in the morning.
my garage is a total mess now. It's gonna take a week to get it straightened out this spring.
 
Ya gotta get in line. So far I gotta build one that will do the laundry, the dishes, shovel the drive and walk...... hehehehehe.
 
I'll still do SU rebuilds, But I haven't been actively looking for business in that area. I like doing that kind of stuff. it's fun.

that's a good question...
the answer is that industrial robots are programmed to do specific, repetitive tasks. they only have a limited logic added to their basic program to "think" about what they're doing. This company custom builds each "cell" to exactly what the customer needs. So, even though there are "models" of machines that are made, no 2 are exactly alike. therefore, it takes people to be able to fabricate and assemble these unique machines, so they can in turn do the simpler repetitive tasks needed of them.
How's that for an answer? hehehehe.
Still, it was one of the first questions that came into my head.
 
Add to the list one for me that will follow me around and keep my tools put away and clean the garage every day when I am finished.

Congrats on the new job. It sounds like it will be a lot of fun with some great rewards.

Sorry Anthony, no clean room full of oompa-loompas at this facility. "uniform" is bluejeans and a decent looking shirt.
First day was good. Got right into assembly and meeting all the folks. All was going smoothly untill "big blue" the Chevy truck broke down about 3 miles from home. I was able to limp it home without the accessory drive belt, only having to pull over twice to let it cool down.
