No LBC - can't find a special bolt - help?

We've spent a few days without power here that would have been much easier if I had the center bolt that goes through the middle of the armature on my generator and connects to the shaft of the motor.
It's 8" x 5/16 x 24
I've called around and most places just say "No can't get it".
One place locally said they can and that's FastenAll.
However that was 3 weeks ago and I still don't have the bolt.
Last time I called he said something about the shipment being lost.

Anyone have any great ideas about getting this bolt?

Power came back last night then out again this morning then back about half an hour ago.

Lucky for you my brother works at FastenAll HQ. Give me the part number and I might be able to help out. See if I can get one out to you.

Only allthread here is 5/16 x 18
I will go to Ace and ask if they have it in fine pitch.

RyanBez thanks - if it comes to that I will contact you.

Thanks, now I have a part number I'll call them tomorrow morning.
Pity having a generator that doesn't work during a 3 day power outage.

All the allthread was 5/16 x 18 thread.

5/16 x 24 die and a piece of rod with a drilled out nut welded to it. Probably the quickest and I bet there is someone close by that can make it. Closer than Bill even!

Kurt.

Well the right bolt is less than $4 if they actually get it.
I will call them in the AM and see where I go from there.
Thanks guys!

I was with Paul A. when we needed something like that. We went to a Farm Feed and Supply shop. The sell nuts, bolts and washers by the pound, not by the "each" at these places and have the odd ball stuff that is needed to keep tractors and such running. ..Give one of them a call...

Good point Bill, also farm equipment dealers.

Kurt.

Sounds like the Grange Supply in Issaquah - its also where I buy my gas.

If you are looking for 5/16"- 24 all thread, you can get it from McMaster-Carr.

I called Fastenal and the guy tried looking up my order and well - it's like I never called the three times or came in to the store the one time.
No record whatsoever.
So I tell him their part number and ask how long to get it to me.
He asks for my phone number (which I have given to them every time) and says they will call me back.

Only one word: WOW!

Now, at least my buddy Shawn at Moss--a company we complain about but likely could not live without--resolved my problem. I got my parts!! Thanks, buddy.
