No good deed...

Well I went with 175-70 series x 14 UniRoyals.
$241 installed and balanced. wife's B is more a cruiser than anything else so she really doesn't "need" some high speed rated tires.
It will RARELY see above 60 mph.
Sorry for the "empathy" remark. I'll try to control my smarmy-ness henceforth.
I generally play nice with friends. Please forgive. Mea Culpa

??? I saw that little remark & didn't see anything wrong with it....

Hif hit wernt fer bad luck

I've have no luck a'tall...Gloom ...Despair..'n Agony
on me.
Well, I picked up Miss B this afternoon. New tires look nice.
Close inspection of the UniRoyals reveals...GASP...Tiger Paws!
I'm mortified!
We are life long University of South Carolina fan/alumnus.
Our most bitter rival...I mean it's nasty...is the Clemson
Tigers. It's not enough that I practice in the Tiger's county
and have to see those dang Tiger Paws plaster on anything and everything but now they are on Miss B's tires. Grrrrrrrr

I guess I should be happy they aren't orange striped.
Thankfully it's HER car, not mine. :jester:

Re: Hif hit wernt fer bad luck

You might not want to park it near campus!

All's well that...

ends well, as they say.
New Tiger Paw tires seem pretty grippy and are very smooth on the road. "A" traction and "B" wear.
Armondo did me right about the tire. I really didn't like
the round rear muffler. Ugly from the rear, IMHO, and detracted
from the B's clean lines. So the shop replaced it with a
small bullet shaped resonator and put a nice chrome end piece
at the rear. Very clean lines now. You can't see the rear muffler at all. The entire system is now a two inch diameter
including the rear chrome pipe.
Bonus is a nice little deep throaty purr. Not loud by any means but now it has a sporty tone.
More importantly the wife is happy.

Re: All's well that...

Or you could paint them tiger paws in Clemson colors!

OR PennState blue and white and call them Lion Paws

Nice idea...but it has Tiger Paws in words written on the suckers.
We took a nice little drive yesterday and I can't believe what a difference these tires make. The B's steering used to get very stiff on hard cornering. I just put it down to a lot
of understeer. WRONG! Cheapo tires appears to have been the culprit. Nice and light now in a curve.
I think Hap said it best. Shop did me a favor by forcing me to replace those old Ultra Supreme Sports. The tread appeared to be hard as a rock. Perhaps that explains how such old tires looked like new.

Re: All's well that...

Tires can make a world of difference on our experiences with a car. Years ago on my Fiat I decided to be a little more economical and go with a cheaper touring tire. They completely changed the handling and feel characteristics for the worst. I think they lasted about 5K miles before I had them replaced. I did the same thing on my Miata by switching to a touring tire rather than replacing with the Dunlop D60 tires I'd been use to.

Re: All's well that...

My experience has been: Goodyear SUCKS.

...just an FYI. :smirk:

Exactly how do you feel, Doc?

Re: All's well that...

I think he said "Look - it's the Goodrich blimp!".

I once put a set of Goodyears on a 250C MB and loved how they
rode and handled...for about 10k miles before they wore out.
I haven't bought that brand since. :madder:

Re: All's well that...

Bring back Semperit!
