no blink blink!

my blinkers dont work even though everything
else works fine...brakes, lights etc...
everthing flashes as normal when i turn on the hazards.
could it be the switch? i already had to hold
it in place to use it, but would it just quit? ...z

Pull the hazard switch - check for continuity across the two pins that are by themselves (with the hazard switch in off position) if there is no continuity then what has most likely happened is this.

when you toggle the switch, you pivot 2 spring loaded pins that push down a thin copper strip. In the off position it bridges the aforementioned pins. In the on position it pushes the other 4 pins which feed the hazard lights and the dash signal lights. Unfortunately the pins are plastic and wear down.

If you want pics I can maybe post them - having just destroyed my hazard switch. I also have a brand new set of pins I can mail from the other switch which I melted the week before since the switch is $40 - you might want to try that first.

I had the same thing happen with Bugsy recently after I pulled the console twice, once to fix the choke cable and the second to replace a blown fuse for the radio. After jockeying the console in and out twice the turn signals no longer work. Flashers are fine but lost connectivity to the turn signals. I know there is some sort of connectivity through the Emergency Flashers that power the turn signals. Bene tryign to find hte time to pull the console and turn it around for the third time to figure out if I pulled something loose or not. Zimmy you're not the only one going down this road with turn signals.

basically the connectivity passes through the two prongs by themselves. the reason for the switch (in addition to actually turning on the hazard lights) is to ensure that the signals and the hazards can't be turned on at the same time. One fix could be to bypass the hazard switch with a green wire. you will however get a short if you turn both on at the same time.

I had intermittent problems with the turn signals and hazards also. One turn signal would come on and not flash, the other would not come on at all, issues would then flip flop, then all was well, then nothing, then no hazards.

I ended up replacing the hazard switch and both the the flasher relay thingys for the turns and the hazard. All works well now and has for over a year.

As mentioned above, the power for the turn signals passes first through the hazard switch. If the hazard switch has bad or dirty contacts the turn signals won't work.

Does the Spridget use the push/pull hazard switch or the rocker one? The push/pull Lucas hazard switches can be taken apart enough to clean the contacts and restored to normal operation. I've never tried taking the rocker switches apart.

Rocker can be taken apart too - just be aware that the pins are spring loaded and even though they won't likely sproing, they might.
