The Tunebug had one of those big windtone horns, but it doesn't work, even when hooked up directly to the battery. So now I've got a working horn push, and fresh wiring, and no horn. Moss indicates that the original single Bugeye horn is NLA. Anyone have any experience with another sort of horn? Can I go down to the local parts store and grab a generic US car horn and drop it in? Will the + ground cause trouble? I'd like to source something local, since I'm hoping to have the car inspected on Tuesday and I'm not ready for another Moss order now.

Any 12V horn should work and I THINK it does not care which way the current flows.

Ahh, take one horn out of something else you run and try it.

You may have been disappointed in the "original" anyway. They have what Dave Bean referred to as: "A pathetic little 'meep'" when used. This is one area where I have a large prejudice: If you DO hit the horn button, it's usually 'cause some *burke* is trying to run you over... fit a set of AIR HORNS to it. You want a real "gut reaction" swerve/avoidance when you use 'em, not a: "Huh? whazzat? did I just run over a cat?!?"

May be an orginial Beep Beep. And an aftermarket set of road horns. Really really loud ones like a truck.

"Like a truck" indeed. I've air horns on all but the Benz. Very DISCORDANT ones. Sounds like a wounded moose.

Beep beep restored! $14 on a loud single horn, and about 15 minutes to test and install. One more little thing checked off. Thanks all for the tips.

Beep beep, Bugeye comming through.
