I thought about this today and have decided that GM has 2 major problems.
1. Too many makes of the same basic model.
2. Dealership setup.
Let me explain. GM produces several cars at about the same performance, style, and price. WHY? Key examples are the Chevy Cobalt and the Pontiac G series, Chevy AND GMC trucks, etc..... Have each make produce one or 2 model cars. Each make has a personality. Buick is for the baby boomers, Chevy for the "working man", Pontiac for hip looks, etc.... Now, setup the dealerships to sell ALL GM products, not just some. They are competing with themselves. GM can then cut down on overhead, won't have to design a bunch of look-a-like cars and can concentrate on just that car, dealers won't have to steal customers from one make to another, quality would improve (IMHO). I know it's not that easy, but they are going to have to try SOMETHING and I think my advice is just as good as some of these multi millionare CEO's is.
