Our Daughter is looking at a 2001 Volvo S40 on a dealer's
lot in Grants Pass,Oregon. We might go look at it this week.
Does anyone have any information on these?I don't know
anything about them, but don't want her making a BIG mistake.

Mother in law loves hers.
Bro-in-law sells them in Md

Doug, I am told by Volvo techs that 00 to 03 S 40s are not as good as the 04 on cars. Is there any maintainence history? The general consesnsus is that the early cars are OK (only) if well maintained. The later cars are better cars.

Yea, Mom's in law is a later car. So I guess no help there.

We're talking under $5000 here,so that eliminates most of
the newer ones.

Under 5 grand?? How about a 93 or later XJ6. Decent cars should start at 2K, and 5K should get a nice lowish mileage 97.... Not bad to maintain either....

Looks like Jesse is trying to drum up some repair business.

Got to watch the transmission, know a S40 and S60 with both bad transmission, both 2002s. great car other than that

Richmond to DC is a Looong way for service...
