Newer Jag Reliability

Hello All,

I was wondering if the reliability of the newer Jags has been improved, like modern production vehicles.

I remember friends commenting that the older Jags were hard to keep in proper tune for extended periods, maintenance issues were a pain, and they required a lot of labor to repair simple items due to the design. These reasons are why I've resisted letting my wife get one.

Thanks

My father has a '95 XJ6, and the car has proved to be reliable. Whilst not entirely problem-free, it has at least never left him stranded anywhere, and my mother uses the car as her daily driver without any problems at all. Go for it! Under the Ford ownership they are as reiable as you could wish thesee days

I have made more enquiries and the consencus seems to be that they are perfectly reliable these days. But be warned.....once you have had a Jag, nothing else will ever seem good enough!

Nothing else will ever seem good enough... How very true. I have seen several reports over the last few years about auto reliability... most were about the "un-reliable" rather than featuring the more reliable. However about a year ago I read an article refering to reliability in relation to number of needed repairs per hundred cars sold. That article listed autos from 1991 thru 2001 and Jaguar came out 5th in the least number of repairs in that ten year period. I have two and WILL buy more as soon as the budget allows... but the price tag for new is quite steep. $42,000 for some standard models and $82,000 for the one I want.

PS... Go ahead and "let your wife" get one. Then every once in awhile "let her drive it"; but not too often or too far

Thanks for the feedback

I was hoping that since Ford bought the company that the reliability had improved. It sounds like that did happen.

I'll have to get some seat time in my uncle's XK Vert to see if my wife really likes them.

Then, I'll have to figure out how to pay for one
