I just bought a 1968 Midget To drive around the Island for It was much cooler and much cheap than a golf cart. It has a few issues that need to be addressed for it has sat for a few years. Need a new brake line(ordered) , a new steering wheel which is broken, and new tires. I have a few questions about the later issues. I noticed that there is not a horn in the center and how do I find a new wheel. Also I have the painted wire 13" wires and am having issues sourcing tires to fit. How big can I go and a good place to get tires? Do they have tubes or can I mount radials on these rims? Any advice would be helpful. Once again, thanks for letting me join.

Yes, you can fit radials to wire wheels. Will probably need to use inner tubes. I typically buy my tires from Tire Rack. I don't know about the horn button. On our 1980 MGB, it's on the left hand stalk. Nice looking car!
 
great car and great idea (instead of a golf cart) - also good to know another Midget owner has the same svelte figure as I do :ROFLMAO: - trust me you will get many comments about getting in and out - which adds to the fun !

Greetings ! For what its worth i replaced my B's steering wheel with a used 14" from a guy on Long Island New York. I normally don't browse Craigslist but there he was. I searched under MG parts and up pops an image of tons of steering wheels! Worth looking. I paoid $120 for a leather rimmed Mountery (sp). Good luck!

If you make it to a CenTex area show, you may see the wife and yours truly trying (repeatedly) to extract ourselves from a Triumph TR3.

She has told me that she plans to visit the gym twice daily until she can exit that car while carrying just one shred of dignity.
 
As you get older,there's no graceful way to get into,
or out of a Midget.
 
Anyone tried a Lotus Exige, Had the pleasure of repairing some bodywork on one not long after they went on sale,
at 6feet one I could squeeze in, but getting out over the cill, (rocker panel), was not an easy experience,
so i just opened the door and sort of poured myself out head first, feet first for me was not an option.
snug is an understatement.

Similar with a Lotus Europa - was once offered a ride in one. Owner had hotted up the engine and lowered it <lowered it!!> I could only exit by rolling out, no other option.

Once read a review many years ago about the Europa. It was titled. " squeeze in, lie back and send your luggage on by rail"
 
Got a hub from moss and a 13" wood wheel from e-bay for $150. All good and more leg room to help me crawl out more gracefully. If that can ever be done.
