I just bought a '61 TR3A and will post pics as soon as she arrives. I found the car on eBay and think I got myself a really good car. I spoke with the guy who restored it 11 years ago and it was rust-free, having languished in a dry garage for decades, sort of a barn find in that respect. The seller is a member of the TRAC (Triumphs Around Chesapeake) so if any of you members know him or the car, please feel free to tell me only good things (don't ruin my upcoming honeymoon when the car arrives next week!). The car is coming to humid, salty Sanibel Island so I am in the process of insulating and air conditioning my garage so as to preserve this car for future generations.

My very first car in 1964 as a teenager was a '60 TR3A, red with black guts and white rain gear, wires, etc., so I was looking for one just like that but when I saw this white car with red interior and white piping, I fell in love all over again. I can't wait for it to arrive next week!

I've already spent a bunch on stuff like wood wheel, Lucas fog lights, Lucas headlamps, Monza exhaust, badges, etc., all the stuff I wanted to buy as a kid but never had the financial wherewithal to buy, so I hope I won't go overboard. And that's before the car has even arrived!

Here's the eBay listing for the car:
https://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/...0931&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK:MEWAX:IT#v4-36

I'll post pics once I've made my own personalized mods.

If there are any members in So. Florida, and if there are clubs in SW FL or Dade/Broward, please hook me up!

Thanks!

Jeff

Welcome Jeff! That's a great looking car. I owned a TR3 around 1970 (bought for under $200).

It was great fun and inspired much of my current enthusiasm for Brit cars.

Best of luck with it!

Howdy Jeff,

Hi Jeff, and welcome to the Forum!

Thanks, everyone! Is there a way to subscribe to threads so I get an email notifying me if someone posts on it?

My car arrives tomorrow (Sunday) morning. I hope I can sleep tonight!

Look up at the top for the "Topic Options" button.

You may also need to enable email notification under your preferences, but ISTR it's enabled by default.

Thanks! I'd figured out the "Watched" option but since I haven't received any emails, I guess I need to check my preferences and make the necessary changes so I'll get emails when a response has been made to the threads I am watching.

All the best,

Jeff

 You have fallen into the right trap. WELCOME!!! Lotz o Triumph spoken here. --elrey

:savewave: Welcome and please don't put any of those pesky shells in your new old ride!

Welcome Jeff; or your old new ride..

TR3Driver: Thanks for the tutorial (albeit a little tardy)! I've been spending time in the Triumph forum section and haven't been back here in the New Member section, but you and Viv & a few others are everywhere and always very helpful. Much obliged!

The heat in Florida has been oppressive so I've been staying indoors a lot. As soon as the sun goes down, out comes the TR just for a drive. But today I think I'll take out my Audi Spyder as she has been ignored all this week due to the arrival of the TR. So many choices, so little time! I'm a lucky guy, I must admit. See ya over in the TR forum...
