Newbie needs help

Hi Guys

I recently picked up a project down here in Sydney Australia - an MGA which I think is from 1960.

The Engine Number is 15GB UHA 31960
Engine Manufacture date is 20 May 1960
Body Number is 50490

Any ideas on how I can go about finding the original chassis number and colour?

I would assume that you could contact BMH in the U.K. They may/should have records for MGAs. See:
https://www.mgcars.org.uk/namgar/bmiht/bmiht.htm

EDIT: Provide them as many numbers as you can find on the car (body, vin, engine, etc.) They can usually work from some or all of the information.

Love those cars, I grew up with a 1958 A.

You can get a build certificate for your car from British Motor Heritage (https://www.heritage-motor-centre.co.uk/archive/certificate/default.htm). This hould provide Color, Interior, Commission Number, Engine Number, and details of any optional extras.

ok Welcome to the forum!! your motor is a 1500, center change gear box, high compression, mg motor. Least thats what my book says. for the color there is a body numbr on a plate, iirc..I also have a 59 mga, rather rough,,but someday...
