I neglected to mention: the perogies went down on top of a New Year's toast of Glenlivet... a dear friend presented me with the bottle and insisted we open it to have a shot in celebration of the upcoming BETTER year. :laugh:

I got a bottle of Abalour Abunadh Scotch whisky, 18 years old, aged in a sherry cask, unfiltered, and "cask strength", which means it's 118 proof.
Yep, that's right: <span style="font-weight: bold">118</span> proof!
Two wee drams of that stuff, and there's no pain or troubles anymore, I might add . . .
Very, very smoooooth.

The sherry cask ageing is really my favorite kind of Scotch whisky now. And, this Aberlour Abunadh is, IMHO, the best Scotch whisky I've ever tasted.
We Yanks can purchase a wide range of rare and unusual Scotch whiskies that are not sold here from Royal Mile Whiskies' (Edinburgh/London) website: royalmilewhiskies.com
It's actually illegal to receive liquour through the mail, but they ship the whisky and the invoicing separately so it can't be traced. The USPS delivers the package right to your door in just a few day's time. This is a chance that it may be confiscated by Customs, but I've never had a problem and I know a few others who order with no problems at all.
Don't tell anyone I told you this . . .
