New Wheels For My 77 B

interesting design.

Looks like Fairlady = 1600/1800 Roadster to me.

I guess where I was going with this is....the bolt pattern and offset...correct for the MGB? Most Z-car rims up through 1979 of so were correct.

Offset is 24mm and the bolt pattern is 4 on 4 1/2 and the width is 5.5 inches.

That will work. Grab 'em...they are SHARP!

I think Mickey has a set of those on his MGB!

John -

Those are the same wheels I put on Janet's car - you'll find that the Rostyle caps fit perfectly!

Take care fitting them, though - the studs are just barely long enough...

Question for you Mickey, will the standard MGB lug nuts fit or do I need a different type?

Regards John

The seats in the rims for the lugnuts are tapered, so you need tapered lugnuts. I bought a chromed set from Moss - the ones with the "MG" logo. They fit well, but as I mentioned there aren't as many threads exposed on the lugs as stock, so be very careful to get the wheels seated well when you snug them up. Too bad the wheels aren't the type that take a shanked lugnut; that would take care of it.

I've driven the car without problems for a couple years; so far all is well. But I would feel better with a few more threads to work with.

seems like you could get some longer lugs at a good bolt supply place.

Hey Mickey, are those 185/70's on your car?

Regards John

They're 195/70 "generics" from Gateway Tire.

I looked, but didn't find any with the right splines, or were too thick to press into the hubs. Gave up looking, as they do seem to be OK. If anyone finds the right ones, I'd be interested in knowing where to find them.

These will press right into the MGB hubs & are 1-1/2" long: ARP #100-7708.

Thanks for that, Tony - wonder why I couldn't find them before?? :confuse: The local fastener shop (that has EVERYTHING) wasn't able to match anything with a proper shoulder that would seat in the hubs...

'Nother question, then: How long are the stock ones?

I like em, they going to look real nice.
