New "Trafficator" for my TR3

I put rack & pinion steering in the TR3 during the restoration, and I haven't seen a successful and proper way to make the original trafficator work as originally designed. Even BPNW's slip ring negates the self canceling feature of the original.

After messing with a few ideas, I gave up and just bit the bullet.

I installed an MGA pneumatic, self-canceling switch. :eeek: The horror of it all...an MG part in my TR!

It actually works quite well. It's timed, and self cancels after twenty seconds.

Art - Looking at your fur-flex trim, may I offer a suggestion so it will look finished. Cut the black rubber tubing in the center back about 1/4" with a very sharp knife and then roll the excess 1/4" of the red trim you left there back into the center hole of the tubing. Push it in with a nail set punch or something similar.

Yeah, you are right about how that looks. That was the first fur-flex pieces I put in. The ones at the back of the "B" pillars I handled alot better. I will follow your suggestion. It does look a bit funky.

Thanks.

Yup, that's the usual solution. BTW, there should be a screw on the back that adjusts how long it runs (within limits); and as I'm sure you know, you can also turn it off early with the lever.
