TR6 new TR6 transmission popping out of gear

after having my transmission rebuilt and getting back on the road, its jumping out of gear in first and 3rd, I contacted the transmission rebuilder and he said that all the specs are correct for the syncros, springs and gear clearances, he said he must have not got the spring and balls that make the selector switch at the right tension since he used a digital fish scale, wouldnt it be better if you used the old fashion spring gauge, any way he says to pull the cover off and adjust the spring tension and the would take care of it

any suggestions if all else is correct are the detent balls the issue

Sounds like thats it. Use a scale but you can also feel what is right.

Just make sure that you are not hitting against the inside of the console since it is happening in 1st & 3rd only. Under full torque, or deceleration, the gearbox may move slightly on the mounts with torque twist and be forced out of gear.

Digital fish scale should work fine, if you work slowly and give it time to update. That's what I use.

Were any of the gears replaced? There is a subtle difference between gear sets that sometimes gets overlooked; and a mismatch can cause jumping out of gear.

Hopefully Brosky is right. That is exactly what happened tome with my MGB, the trim ring on the shift boot was reversed, (by you know who) and while it seemed like I had the gears engaged, they were only partially engaged, Cheap quick fix, go there first. The 1st and 3rd hints point right to that solution.

as far as gears, I know the layshaft was replaced, and reverse, I would have to check my invoice to see if anything else was replaced
