Nite before last I had to leave my VW shop and go get my dog some food...had run low and didn't have time during te day. Normally I wouldn't have been at the shop at that time...but it was firtunate I was. I pulled up and in front of the Sears store that is attached to my building was an 86 White VW Cabrio. Beautiful car, and a GI was lying next to it looking around. He said as he shifted down, the stick got sloppy. There are some plastic bits, shims and a ball that had gone bad. I told him I had a shop right there and if he could leave it...I'd have it fixed the next day. He sdaid he had orders to Germany, why don't I just buy it?? Perfect shape..paint vert top, interior. Has Power steering and brakes, a/c thats cold, c/d system with amp. and sub-woofer, new tires brake sna shocks. Less than 6 months ago had a rebuilt trans, clutch set and drive axles installed. I said how much...he said $1000. He calld his wife for a ride and I owned the car. Strange day. The next morning I tirned down $2500 for it from an MGb owner...its a keeper.

Amen - you will never hear a sermon out of these lips on "Though Shalt Not Covet" as long as there are deals like that and Jag E types and Vanquishes and - aww never mind, I'm just getting depressed

 I like it. Almost bought a newer one (98-99) about a year ago. Nice cars.

LOTTERY TICKET!!!!! If you remember a while back, the evening my CGT got run off the road by the street racer?? That morning I went to buy three scratch off lottery ticket..originally was going to buy two but lady said"aw...buy all three...its the end of the roll" I hesitated then relented...five dollar winner, next was a ten dollar winner...third one was $2700...then a few hours later my C was a mess...I have a new rule...if driving an MG...no lottery tickets.

some would say driving and MG is a lottery ticket  :cryin:

Nice ride Jack, I have an '87 cabby that I bought for the missus about a year ago. Not too many toys on it, auto,p/s and a cd player and that's it. Dark blue with a dark blue top, the rear seat could do with being re-upholstered and the paint has faded and a few scratches on it. It needs a few things like outer tie rod on one side and inner on the other rear brakes and a strut mount (which I am picking up today) and the flex brake lines on the front are starting to bubble, other than those things it runs like a charm 280K and not using any oil,and the good part is it cost me $750 cdn.
