I saw an ad on the local racing organization's forum for a '91 Miata for sale, $1000, decent shape, no brakes. Since the spec Miata folks swarm over these when they get listed I didn't have high hopes but I gave it a try anyways. I talked to the owner, drove an hour to look at it that night and put a deposit down to trailer in home Saturday. Well Saturday is today and this is the result. They had the brakes done last year so it should be something easy like a master cylinder or crush washer (the master was empty). The previous owner told me today he was offered asking price sight unseen after I talked to him. I glad I went out there that night.

Now, THAT is a score! I could seriously do with finding something like that myself. Congratulations, you did really well! What a find!!!!!!!!!!

Ohh! nice score! that's gonna be fun.

Sweet! I've been keepin my eyes outs for a nice early miata, but the majority around here are pretty beat, or really rusty.

Erica is gong to make her gray one a track car and keep this as a clean street car. The car doesn't look like it has much if any rust so that is good. She bled the brakes yesterday and the pedal came back so we'll see if the leak reveals itself. This is a picture of what she had to do to the gray one to save it. The car had the rear clip replaced at one point and the rockers were just butt spliced together. This shows what she did to replace the rockers.

Whoa! I guess the Miata really is the modern day MGB! Look at that sill replacement job!

ood deal - congrats!

Nice find, Chris. Now why can't I ever run across a deal like that. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Great find! How many miles on the odo?

I'm kinda partial to the old ones myself!
190K but the oil pressure is good, only 30K since 2001 so I'll assume there were a lot of highway miles early on. The carfax came back clear so no accidents warranting a claim. She'll do the timing belt for piece of mind.

/bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shocked.gif I'm in shock. Now that's what I call a steal of a deal!!

Congratulations.
