Wedge New to me TR8 Barn find

Will be picking up a 1980 TR8 that has been stored in a garage since 1996. Odo shows 90k. Owner parked it there after having problems with the infamous Strombergs.

Car was repainted sometime before he bought it in '96. Color change from green to red. Looks like a decent job; big thing is they did the engine bay & trunk, looks good depite a few shadows of green on inner fender. The car has virtually no rust, includes 5 alloys, tool kit and jack as well as owners & service manual, plus a shop manual.

Brakes are frozen and clutch also seems to be as you can't even push it down 1/2". Fuel smells like kerosene, so we didn't try and start it. With frozen brakes we couldn't rock it
in gear as it was against the wall.

I think I got a good deal on it & am hoping none of these issues are major.

The fun shall start next week when I get her flatted back to my garage to share the space with my 82 911SC.

Will keep you posted and look forward to the forum.

Good for you Gary. Congrats!

I think a TR8 will be my next purchase.

Cheers

Nice find! You're gonna love that Rover V8, once you get it sorted. I really enjoyed mine, and it would still be with me, were it not for the B GT that I acquired. Looking forward to seeing how you progress. With Woody Cooper and the Wedge Shop in your backyard you have a great resource at hand!

If you need parts or help with it, I have half a dozen TR8s and a garage full of spares. I'm right down in Carver. Is that the one that was on RI craigslist for the last month? I am suppose to go down to Warwick one of these days and pick up another TR8, and I was planning on having a look at the one on CL just to see it. I wouldn't have bought it, just wanted to see it. FWIW, there is a pretty good following of wedge guys over on Triumph Experience.

Saw a very pretty gold TR8 at our monthly Brit Car get together on Rancho Palos Verdes. San Diego car, beautiful tan plaid interior.
Definitely a looker!

Thanks Todd, trying to get measurements on the pattern for the green plaids

I'm sure the plaid on the seats and the door panels are the same. I can snap some pictures of the door panels with a ruler layed out on them. Will that get you what you need? PM me your email address and I'll send them off to you later in the day.
