New To Me TR3

Hi All,

Yesterday was a good day. I purchased a 1960 TR3A from a gentleman who had owned and enjoyed it since 1968. The car has an interesting history having being raced as a vintage racer in the EP class. The car is currently not running and does need quite a bit of work. However, I am looking forward to this new project having just recently completed a frame off restoration of a 1973 Triumph TR6.

For any who are curious, the Comm # is TS69891LO

I sent away for it's Heritage Certificate yesterday so I can find out some more info on the original paint/trim color etc.

I am sure that I will have lots of questions along the way!

Thanks in advance for your help.

Cheers,
Tush

Welcome, that sounds like a fun project on many levels.

Are you going stock with it?

Hi Pat,

Thanks for the welcome. I think that I may celebrate it's racing heritage and keep it as it is, number and all. It is not so modified that it won't be streetable. I have asked the previous owner to provide me with what history he has on the car from his ownership over the past 40 years. He showed me, and will provide me with quite a few interesting documents and photos and will include all the racing log books that he has from over the years.

I like that the car has some "character" and it is one of the things that interested me about it in the first place.

Here is a pic of it in action.

Hi, welcome to the Forum! Great looking TR3A!

That's neat! I'm with you to keep it looking like that as much as possible. Obviously the headlights need to come back for street use. The wheels don't work for me, but that's me..... Keep us posted on your progress!! And pictures, lots and lots of pictures!

Welcome aboard. I'd keep it in racing trim as much as possible myself. Do just's what neccessary to get it streetable and blow the doors of the local Civics!
