Ron-

That was fast delivery. Have you checked if you can rotate the crank yet?

Real sorry I can't make the Saturday club breakfast I mentioned, I have a bunch of catalogs I can give you - you're gonna need them! For that matter, I think I have an old but serviceable TR3 factory manual that would come in handy. If you feel like a long drive out to Katy sometime, just let me know and you're welcome to drop by anytime.

Randy,
I went and picked it up as soon as they pulled it out.

I was getting ready to look for a shop manual online, but I logged on here first.

I was looking to see if I needed to do anything to loosen things up prior to turning w/ the crank. should I loosen the fan belt? any suggestions?

my sister lives in Katy so we go there frequently, I will let you know next time we come out.

Aloha Ron,

I think loosening or removing the belt would be a good idea. If the water pump and generator are not seized you can spin them by hand. Otherwise the friction on the belt may stop you from turning over the crankshaft. Removing the spark plugs and a shot of oil in each cylinder should also help turning it over. The hand crank is a handy tool. Good luck.

Take out the plugs and add some Marvel Mystery Oil to each cylinder. Don't be afraid to let it sit for a day or two before trying.

Also, have you checked the oil level to make sure it's not overfull? That will be a problem when you try to turn it over.

Good luck!

EDIT: Nice Sportster you have there!!
