Well after owning a 1991 Range Rover for the last 7 years I decided I hadn't suffered enough at the hands of British Engineers so, I added a 1989 XJ6 to the drive.

White with blue interior and just under 100k on the clock.

She of course has a few issues that I'm working through. Some are simple, some are simple and expensive (stupid blower motors lol). I recently found this forum in my searching for more info on the XJ40 so thought I would say hi.

Whenever you're tempted to succumb to the "Problems-I've-Had" Siren, and she's a powerful creature, venture over to the TR forum and read of the trials of Dale and "Crypty". You'll love YOUR car even MORE!!

Peter I'll be moving to your neck of the woods here in the very near future end of Feb to be exact. I'll pop over there and read up, to make me smile a bit. I've been searching all morning for replacement blower motors and the prices have made me cry. I think I'm going to have to try and rebuild the darn things myself.

Don't worry I don't give up easy after all the years of land rover ownership I'm not easy to stop lol.

I wondered over there and wow thanks for the entertainment at work today that was some fun reading...

Are those still XJ6's....I always called them XJ40's?

B Ski....work bringing you this way? Where are you moving to? When you get here, I'll connect you with some local resources.

The army decided I need to continue to live in the artic so they are transferring me to what's left of Fort Sheridan IL. More than likely I'll end up living at great lakes naval base as they control the housing for active military personnel in the area. Unless of course it's to pathetic in which case I'll find somewhere to live off post.

I appreciate any direction that can be given on the land rover side I found the chicago land rover club already and I'm looking forward to going off roading with them as much as I can and if there is a local Jaguar club I'll try to get active in that as well. I have found it's a good way to make friends with similar interests lol.

Check out JCNA.com ( Jaguar Clubs of North America ) and you find the nearest Jaguar club.

Welcome aboard, that looks like it's a nice example.

One of my many books is specifically on the design and development of the XJ40 model, by the way.......

If you decide to live off-base, ley me know, I have contacts in the Chicago-land area (and southern Wisconsin where it's cheaper to live) who can help you find a rental or buy a home, if that's what you want. No charge of course, just hook you up with some good people who'll take care of you.

Chicago's a fun area, you'll enjoy it.

Steve I appreciate that we have been looking into off post housing as the school systems are horrible for Great Lakes Naval base. Which is where I would apparently be housed if I stayed with military housing. So we have been looking around the area. A couple of the chicagoland land rover club members have been giving hints and pointers for areas to live and one has a friend that sent us some info on rentals in the area, most were a bit to pricey(lake forest area) for what the army gives us though.

We'll be renting as we tend to move every 3 years or so. Of course we would prefer a house or condo with a garage but I realize that may not be possible of course but I pulled it off in New England and I would think I can there as well so we'll see. I'm willing to go as far north as Kenosha if need be to find a safe area with good schools and a garage lol. I'm trying to keep housing cost around 1100 but that is flexible if need be and we have to dogs as well which kicks us around a bit also.

You write books on Jags? That's very cool, I would never be able to do that probably why I'm in the Army lol.

Cheers

B_Ski, you have a PM.
