a few questions i have before i get started on this project....

1) what books would you all recommend for this project. keep in mind this car is apart now and i did not take it apart. So looking for help with a lot of details.

2) are there any websites that good on restoration of a 62 tri-carb

3) are there any other forums i should join for help

Thanks. i am sure i will be on here a lot in the coming months... year.... ha, maybe more.

The 'Bentley Book' is the best all-around (mostly a reprint of the shop manuals):

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Austin-Hea...SHOP-REPAIR-MANUAL-BENTLEY-BOOK-/351572151939

If you can find one at a reasonable price, the Anderson/Moment book is helpful:

https://www.amazon.com/Austin-Heale...=1-2&keywords=austin-healey+restoration+guide

There's another forum that's good (but not as good as this one):

https://www.ahexp.com/

The Autox mailing list used to be more active, but can still be helpful (although, for me, the emails have gotten erratic):

https://autox.team.net/mailman/listinfo/healeys

Recommend you join one--or both--of the national clubs: Austin-Healey Club USA and/or Austin-Healey Club America

Well done on your choice of Healey. Tricarb and centershift transmission is the best of both worlds IMHO.
My suggestions:
1. Join your local chapter of the Austin Healey Club of America.
2. British Car Specialists offer "Healey Restoration Detail Photo Sets for BT7" and "Tech Talk" by Norman Nock.
They also have most any part you could need and are generous with advice. No financial interest...
Good luck

Reposted from another thread:

1. A factory workshop manual/Bentley manual
2. The Mechanical Service Parts List for your model
3. The Body Service Parts List
4. Concours restoration guidelines.

The factory manual is self-explanatory. The Service Parts lists contain exploded diagrams of every assembly along with part#s. They help to see what was in the car originally and with the factory part #s some of the parts retailers have a search feature to find the retailer's part #. And even if you aren't going to enter concours, the guidelines contain lots of pictures to let you know how things are supposed to fit. Some of the manuals and service parts list may be available in reprints or you may have to search the online auctions, but it will really be worth your while, especially where you have no prior Healey experience.

That is a great start. Thanks. I will start doing some looking.

Drone, the Moss catalog has the exploded views, and you'll be ordering stuff anyway!

Drone, congrats on your Healey purchase. I can appreciate where you are coming from and the task ahead of you when you say you purchased the car disassembled. The BJ7 I'm currently finishing up (after 10 years) was just a pile of parts when I bought it. Hopefully your project will not take quite as long as mine has. Others have already made great recommendations for books and manuals that will be of great value to you while you work. But if you get stumped, don't be afraid to tap the brain trust and ask the experts on this forum. I have done so numerous times, and have received nothing but good, sound advice.

Check out the parts diagrams and pics these folks have. Go to the parts diagram, click on a part number and most of the time it brings up a picture. Excellent reference.

Also, the current exchange rate and lower prices more than offset the shipping.
I have nothing invested.

Thanks to all.
just getting back home so hopefully will get to check this all out this week.

i have a tr6 and just sold a MG TD so I am familiar with some of these places for parts. A lot of new parts have been supposedly bought for this car. So I hope that saves some. First thing is to get the title transferred and do an inventory of what I have. I will post some pics as I get a little more organized.

Here is another club to consider joining - https://www.austin-healey-stc.org/ - the regions are fairly active and essentially in your backyard. You may want to consider going to their annual meet (Encounter) which is being held in Princeton, NJ this year.

Congrats on the purchase!!
