new stub axle kit - TRF

I noticed that TRF is now offering improved stub axles and/or stub axle shim kits. They claim that the weak triumph stub axle design allows for brake disc wobble that pushes the brake caliper pistons back into their housings. This is supposedly what causes that slow brake pedal response, pumping to get the pistons back into position before actual braking occurs. Anyone have any thoughts on this topic, used the new stub axles or shim kits?

That's the first time I have heard of that problem. Maybe some of the more senior members might know more. I do feel that TRF usually has quality parts.

This is developed and marketed by "Uncle Jack" Drews, a long time TR4 racer. Here's a link:

Uncle Jack's parts

Don't know any of the details, but I bet its a quality setup.

It must be his race car but what is the red round thing in the picture with the oil tank?

stupid question but, is the trf kit for the rear stub axles for the irs cars or is it truly the front axle upgrade? uncle jack is the only source for the front axle upgrade that i know of. it is required because the front axles flex under racing conditions and tires which makes the rotor push the front brake pads away from the rotor in a turn.

The TRF kit is for the front, I think they are doing extra marketing for Uncle Jack, much like they and Moss do for Joe Alexander (another TR4 guy!).

BTW, didn't mention it before but that weblink I posted has a pretty slick movie of what happens when a rear axle snaps on a TR4 during competition.
