Hi,

By way of background I formerly had Triumphs, first a Herald then later a TR4. I started with this forum back when it was a listserv mailing list in 1995 so I'm new, but not really new. I'm also quite active on hobby-machinist.com under the same username as here. So, without further delay pictures....

My plan is to fix the floors, get her running, and drive it. Open to advice on floor replacement, I've done it on my TR and also a Chevy Tahoe. I have MIG, TIG, and Oxy Acetylene, my experience leads me to think this project should be brazed rather than welded other than just locating the floor pans for further fixing.

Also, would lean towards replacement floors from Moss but am open to opinions on eBay options as well as anyone that has extras they want to sell. I'm in Santa Cruz, CA - just over the hill from the SF Bay Area and would welcome chat from local folks who might want to meet up for a pint.

Cheers,

John

John - welcome to BCF (again). The phrase "Honey, look what followed me home" comes to mind!

How's the engine look? frozen? or "turns over slowly with the plugs out, using lots of muscle"?

Good to have you with us.

Hi Tom,

I haven't gotten to really check it out yet other than it looks very original. Regardless of condition I'm happy about that and can either rebuild this one or hit up the seller for another lump.

I know standard advice is to swap in a 1275, and I may do that. But, a well tuned 948 kinda appeals to me for this project. The guy who sold it to me told me he wants to convert another Spridget he has to electric. Tempting as I do work for an electric motorcycle company, but knowing what it will take and what I'd end up with I'm very disinclined to do that kind of swap. I like the idea of having a car I can push start myself if I need to....

John
