New 'puter monitor

Soooo...a friend of mine showed up here yesterday with a gift. A new 22" monitor for my computer. GREAT !! Hooked it right up but, it doesn't have speakers in it like my old 15" does. I thought "oh well, I'll just leave the old monitor audio cord plugged in and use it for sound. This works just fine for 60 seconds then it goes to sleep !! Any suggestions other than buying external speakers???
 
External speakers are really cheap. It'd cost less to buy them than to have an extra CRT tube running just for the sound. Of course you could always get out the sawz-all and "remove" the speakers from the old monitor.
 
Yeah Banjo...the sawzall makes the MOST sense !! Think I'll look at externals though.
 
OK, here's what you do, first off, ensure that the computer is set up near a window, then get the 'B, it does have a radio doesn't it? Park the B close to the window, get some speaker cable, patch to the 'puter, patch to the "B wiring and you're good to go.

Just leave the motor running or you'll drain the battery.
 
Great advice JP. I hadn't thought this through...obviously :smile:.

I "Googled" external speakers and can't believe how cheap they are.
 
If you do any music listening I <span style="font-style: italic">really</span> recommend a system with two small square speakers and a small subwoofer that goes on the floor. I've had that set up here for over 10 years and the quality is outstanding - mine are similar to the $30(ish) logitech ones.
 
Thanks for the advice...$30ish is very cheap it seems. I'll check 'em out.
