I took a 7 hr drive on Friday to look at a a 1960 TR3A. Comm Number TS56698L.

The owner said it was a "Barn Find" and has sat since 1968 which I almost believe. There was a faded Service Document from Stilwell's Sport Car City, a Triumph Dealer in Annaheim, CA. dated 3-13-67 for a tune up and thermostat replacement for a whopping $32.47. Mileage on the car at the time was 43844. Odometer today reads 48067.

I'd say it was a 100 footer!! This is third car I looked at. Car was originally white but had a very poor red respray/roller job. Lots of flakey surface rust everywhere, 1 hole in battery box about the size of a quarter and another in the trunk the same size. The right front fender is broken at the bottom fold line the entire length. The Brake/Clutch box is rusted through and needs replacement. Painted wire wheels that actually came off very easy. Floorboards and firewall look almost new. Rockers need attention. No visible rust on A or B posts or dog legs.

Interior is a complete waste. All gages and seats are there but that's about it. All the bright work is trash.

Engine is incomplete. Owner said the engine is froze up. He removed the head and promptly lost it. Bits and pieces are missing from the engine compartment. He offered up a complete, running engine and trans from a 1964 TR4 which I saw run to compensate for missing 3 parts.

Well, considering what I looked at on the previous 2 cars, I'm now a TR3 owner. The better half looked at me with "the look" and didn't say much. I'm putting together a plan on what to do with it. I'll try to post some pics within the next few days.

I get " the look" all the time. Good luck.
