Wow Bob, saving them all - one car at a time...

Looks like the floorboards are in decent shape. How about the rest of the body?

There are a few pin holes in the original dog legs. Thats it for rust holes. Looks like it was parked because of a clutch issue. I will probably start tinkering on this one in a few weeks. I am helping a buddy get his MGB ready to paint and that will tie up my large shop...ER..one work bay shop...He is doing the work and i am the coach. Even as the coach i got pretty dirty today. Now how did that happen? Bob

You walked in!!! :jester:

Update..The body is in final primer and i have the wheel wells painted body color and the car is now jambed out. Tomorrow i will install the hood, trunk and doors and begin the wetsanding process. The engine will be the 1800 cross flow unit i purchased about a month ago. It has 5-6000 miles on it. A E-bay purchase of a set of Libre 4 spokes will keep the tires attached to the car. I have a set of rebuilt kingpins and red bushings for the front suspension. And yes its going to be the original Harvest gold. The trans will be the O/D from the 79 white parts car. More pics later! Bob

OK, Bob, NICE!

Just to keep this current here is a pic from today. The color is off in the pics because of the flash. Bob

That crossflow engine looks sooo appropriate! NICE!

Bob - are you restoring MG's fulltime now?

Tony, My real job went away so i am playing in the back yard. I do not work for others normally so its still fun. One fellow said that it was like a candy machine at my house. Just pull the lever and see what color comes out and drive it. This car will be my last rebuild for a while. I am also playing on the red 67 getting it road ready so it can find a new owner. If i did not have the 2nd iris blue 63 waiting i would put the 67 in the back corner of the garage as a future rotisserie rebuild. Bob

Sorry to here about the job - but you can keep above water doing what you're doing.

I've got this red '64 or '65 (can't remember which without paperwork handy) that I'm trying to decide what to do with: sell as is or keep for an Iris Blue car....tomorrow, I'm picking up a factory hardtop that I just had painted OEW.

Hap, By the time i got the call confirming a time it was too late for me to leave here. I had a commitment to be back by 3. So i guess the answer is no. I had the GT loaded and ready to go. 1 engine block and a set of seats! Bob

Here is a updated pic. or two. Just so you know i am not being a complete slacker. I have alot of extra harvest gold base if anyone needs any touch up paint! The paint store mixed 2 extra quarts by mistake and i ordered one extra. Bob

I have a question (based on almost 40 years of wrenching and now Brit car ownership):

There are what I hope are temporary spacer blocks between the flanges of the headers.

How does one reach the spark plugs with those in place?

Just wondering is all.......aloud, no less.......

Dave

Dave, The spark plugs are on the other side. I have not installed the large flat washers to hold the exhaust on yet. The flange on the exhaust manifold is about 1/8" thicker than the spacer blocks and i will be welding a half moon shim to the washers so the studs stay straight. Bob
