New Prefect progress

Finally made some significant progress. The last of the old multi-layer paint is removed and the main body is now fully in epoxy. Everything body part that will come off the car has already been stripped, metal worked as needed and now in epoxy too. Still got the hibuild polyester and lots of block sanding to do but that comes in spare time over the summer while I try to finish the Sprite. Hope to get this one painted by the time it gets cool enough to do so. September maybe?

Really excellent progress!

(Can you ship your garage to me after the Prefect reaches perfection?)

I wish the shop was mine. I get a little space from a pair of old friends. They have sold the property and we have 3-1/2 years left on our lease. So I am working a little faster than I used too. Still need to finish this one then paint the Volkswagen.

It's looking fantastic.

As near as possible, a restoration. It is already customized to some extent. I converted to hydraulic brakes and swapped in a '58 motor many years ago. Motor is still 36 hp and looks almost identical to original except for some peripherals. Also couldn't get 5.00x16 tires at the time so changed to TR3 wheels. Tires and wheels are the only external hint. Thanks for asking.

Rare indeed. In the 60 years I have owned this one I have seen three others that were not street rods or drag cars. In fact the most authoritative book I have estimates there are between 50 and 100 worldwide. They were just cheap cars with no special reason to keep them once the wore out.
