Hi.....my name is Mike and I am a British-holic,

I signed up for this forum back in July of 07, lost my information and a few nights ago found it! I am a long time Britsh car guy. It is a terrible habit! All started when I was 15 in 1986 and I got for my 1st car a 1969 MGB-GT. 3 restorations later, high school, college and 1 break down I switched as a diehard MG guy to TR7s & 8s. From 1986 to now I have had about 50 cars and worked at 3 shops in Massachusetts. At one time I must have had about 10 cars with 4 of them drivers and the rest for future restoration or the sawz-all. I love all the British cars even each color as odd or wild as some of them may be.

The competition cars are where my heart lies! I am an avid collector of Group 44 and BL Motorsports memorabilia. I am down to one car a 1980 Triumph TR8 coupe that I am converting into a TR7V8 Works Rally replica. It was a blown 2nd gear and a motor refreshing that turned into a 7 year project. Besides the VIN# and the UK registration it will be 90% vintage parts the same used on the original Works cars. So far over the last few days I have and look forward to enjoy this forum.

Hi Mike- my name is Dale and I feel your..uhh obsession?? I have nowhere near the number of ex Brit cars as you, probably 8 at most and over quite a few more years. That said, the TR project looks like a very nice goal. I'm a huge fan of Brit V8's, as evidenced by the absurd amount of $$ I'm putting in my SP.250 TOTAL restoration. The TR forum is a busy place here, I'm sure you will find answers and support for the rally car build.
I was fortunate to see Tullius race the group44 TR's in the 60's.

Hello Mike,

"Welcome" back to the wonderful world of "LBCs" on the "BCF".

"50" Cars!! What do you have in the lines of a TR3 or TR6 (Up to `73) that you may want to part with?

Regards,

Russ

Welcome!

The picture below was taken by me at Lime Rock around 1980. It was, I am pretty sure, the first factory racing TR8 that was built. Sorry for the crappy resolution, but it's a scan from a beat-up photo.

Since you are interested in BL rally cars, ~Click Here~ to view a factory Marina that ran the Cypress Rally around '74. I took this picture in the Jacob Javits Center around '75 or so (I think).

There may be some other photos on my "Old Pictures Page~. Most are just personal cars, but there's a few others (you may have to click "refresh" on your browser a few times...it's a lot of pictures and it may time-out before they all load).

Since you are in the neighborhood, you should come up to the Thunderbolt Historics in 2009. ~HERE~ are pictures from '08.

Thansk for the welcome(s)! I had all of my cars back in 1986 to about 1997. From that point on it's been the one and lonely TR8 coupe. The picture of the group 44 TR8 was the #44 car first built by Group 44 in 1979. It was actually a 1978 or 1979 TR7 EPA test car that was donated to Group 44 and was converted to a V8 car with parts from Leyland.

Elkhart Lake 1979 teamwork in action!
