new moss carpet question, BJ8

Hey,
I have a BJ8, and I am working on installing the Moss carpet. The front mats are not bound on the sides and it is not looking right. Do the sit unbound against the trans. tunnel, or do they tuck under the carpet of the tunnel? Also, regarding the insulation under the front mats; do you glue this to the back of the mats and snap all that down, or not glue at all and just place it under the mats?
Thanks in advance,
David T.

I installed the same kit last summer. I wish also that the edges were bound, however for easy removal with the floor snaps, there appears only one way to mount it with the edges against the transmission tunnel. In my case, I used a heat shield foil backed carpet insulation, attached directly to the back of the carpet. For the snaps, I cut 2 inch holes in the insulation (i.e. no insulation) so that the fastener could pass through the carpet only. It looks fine and allows access to the floor where there are number of bolts for the muffler mounts that you might need to get access to from time to time. I suspect if you did not glue it, it would end up being a mess with the stress of getting in and out of the car. 3M makes a good adhessive that you spray onto both surfaces, dries non-sticky, but sticks like heck when it is attached to each sprayed surface.
