New Minotaur Wheels....make an offer???

I have a friend way down here in Franklin, Louisiana (South Louisiana) that owns a brand new set of (4) Minotaur Wheels (bolt on) that he bought and mounted on a hopeless TR3. The wheels have four new tires as well. Knowing nothing about restoration (actually his brother bought the car), he asked me my opinion. I told him the car was hopeless, so he junked it. (It really was hopeless.) Anyway, he has these four tires and wheels (they actually are several years old, the tires are "who knows", have been in storage and never rolled) and he told me he would like to sell them. What would be a reasonable offer for this set. I have no need for them, anyone want to drive to Franklin and get some wheels? Just has to be a reasonable offer, whatever that is. Post or PM me. Trying to help a friend out.

Minotaurs are British-made Minilite Mag lookalikes. They are a qualtiy wheel. Moss sells them.

Hi,

Those are KN copies of "Minilites", right?

Silver painted, 15x5.5, 8-spoke wheels?

For a value guide, I think those wheels go for $200-250 apiece and then add the price of the tires (if usable), mounting and balancing.

If painted any color other than Argent, or if they have a polished rim, they are an even more expensive version of the wheel.

If you buy them, be sure to get the chrome lug nuts with them because they are somewhat unique to the wheels and not easily replaced.

Is this the orange TR3 that was discussed here awhile back??I think someone posted pics of it.

Just an aside from Widespread panic's note - I think KN is changing their design a bit having polished rims, maybe to compete with Panasport? The KN's I think Bill is talking about are probably a uniform silver, the rims themselves are not polished.

p.s. Bill- I'd love to buy a couple of them, but being where I am it would have to be a longer term (maybe 6 months) acquisition before I could pick them up. I also am cheap so Alan's quote is good regarding retail price but I picked up my last set on ebay for a little less than $100/wheel.

I sold a set of four of these with good tires and the lugnuts for $800.00 and the buyer was very happy. They were in excellent condition however.
PS - As stated, get the lugnuts with them as they are unique to the wheels and cost $80-$100 for a new set.

I have KN Minators on the 3A and drilled out the lug holes to fit a standard McGard shank style lug nuts. The KN lugs were not worth their inflated price and the quality of the McGards are much better and also lifetime guaranteed against chrome peeling off.

If you don't have a drill press, best to take them to a machine shop to get the holes nice and straight.

Also pay attention to the outer diameter of the hex head on the new lug nuts to be sure that you can still get a socket on them. I use a thin wall socket that works fine.

Oh, and I paid $560 for the set of four new (w/o lugs) a few years ago.

I bought a set of immaculate 15X6 Minators with very good Dunlop tires and lug nuts for $600. This was 1 year ago. They were advertised for a couple of months before I bought them. Not sure why they didn't sell sooner. They are very nice wheels that really look good on our cars.
