Well, I am now a Mini Cooper owner-to-be. My wife (and I - she is adamant that she is the owner...) just put the down payment on a new shiny red with black top and sunroof Mini Cooper. We expect delivery in about three months. My question for you this morning is: Are we "new" Mini Cooper owners welcome on this forum or is it an "original Mini" forum? I have owned a 65 Austin Healey BJ8 for over thirty years so when my wife decided she wanted a sporty car for herself I suggested we look at the Minis....

Yes! The forum is fine for both t he new and the classic. Totally different cars to be sure, but both can be discussed here! My wife and I are thinking of getting her a new Mini also...probably a convertible.

You might want to hold out for the new version of the Mini Cooper S that's coming out next year...Grassroots Motorsports magazine - last issue - had a short blurb about the car.

Hi, Basil,
We went to the dealer thinking "convertible for sure.." but when my wife drove the convertible with the top up she didn't like the blind spots.... She finally decided that the neato sunroof on the hardtop would have to do! We decided on a red with black top standard Mini Cooper as she just doesn't drive brisk enough to warrant getting an S. I will have to research the 'new S' though just to find out more.... She is so excited. She rented "The Italian Job" last night so she could watch the minis full of Gold outrun all the other helicopters, motorcycles, etc. that were chasing them. After watching the movie I was glad she got the standard....maybe I have started a monster? I am happy that she is excited. Makes for a good time for all. I am looking forward to driving it, too. I bought myself a new '06 MX-5 Mazda (the new edition of the Miata) a few months ago and am really enjoying having a new modern convertible to drive daily. Lots of fun!

Welcome to the MINI fold! I have an '05 MCS, it's a great car. And yes, MINIs and Minis are welcome here.

Enjoy!
