MGB New MGB Owner

Hi everyone! I am a the owner of a "new" 1978 MGB. It was parked in a back yard for about 5 years. 500.00 and a Weber Gril later it was on a tow truck in route to my house. My husband had it running about 2 days later. Since then we have been restoring it (taking everything apart and either replacing the items or we buy new ones...) and learning as we go. (I think it is just a lifesize puzzle for my husband!) Hopefully I'll be driving it in a few months. I'm looking forward to chatting with all of you and learning all that I can about these fun little cars!

I have named her Hyacinth after the character from the brittish comedy Keeping Up Appearances... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/savewave.gif

Congrats! Always nice if you can rescue one without to much trouble. Lots of useful info here, and hope it doesn't turn up anything unpleasant. Mine sat for more like 18 years before I got it going, and it's been a project. Good luck!

She is a dark green - I think she will stay that way even after the paint job. I knew this was a big project, but when I sat in her I noticed that the clock was still ticking and that did it. I just had to have her. The floorpans were a little rusty - but still strong. (Nothing had rusted through - thankfully!)

The clock worked?
I have a 77 and a 80 B and neither clock has worked since before I had them.
She's a keeper!!!!!!!!
Welcome to the forum. These are wonderful informative emotional people. Who truly love their cars.
Good Luck.

Welcome to the forum. Wait until you see the looks you get when you drive your MG. You are going to love it. I'm looking at 2 66' this weekend. Have to make two dump runs so the other half will let me bring in more MGs.

Lots of luck.

Welcome aboard! You're going to love the car, and the people here are so knowledgable that I think perhaps the "M" in Mensa stands for "MGB owner"!
Good to have you here.

YAY! Another female! Welcome!

You all are great!! (A little crazy - but great!!!)
I have never driven an MG before. So when we get her all fixed up it will be really fun...If I ever sound really technical - my husband is more than likely asking the questions and I am typing...I'll post pictures soon!

Welcome!! And I agree with Jaybird...another female...yay! Which makes me wonder how many of us there are in this forum...hmmmm...

I signed up SWMBO, but so far she's been a lurker... she'll get around to participating when the "boots hit th' ground" methinks.

Watch fer "Horsemits" as her nomer, BTW.

Hehe. That's what we all said when we first joined. Now I'm the one asking the questions all the time, some stupid, some important, but none the less, you will be surprised what you learn here!

I'm officially a 'gearhead' now according to my sister, my son and several people on the board.
