Hi All. I'm Frank P. Herrera from Martinsburg WV. As many of you might recognise my surname, I'll just tell you, Yes, I am brother to the late John R. Herrera, best known here as "Two Sheds". This forum and the friends he made here were a great part of JR's life, especially when his condition increasingly restricted his activities. On our trips to John Hopkins, he would relate all the interchanges and contraversies of the week with real enthusiasm. You all made a real difference, and for that I thank you.
As for me, I have decided to keep JR's TR3A, and restore it, not for concours, but a really nice reliable driver. I will have to divide my time, however as we also have a rather demanding 2000 Boxter S, which is close to concours. My British car/Mc creds. go back to 1962 when I went to driver's school at Marlboro in a rudimentry TR 2. It was slow, but would finish. The next year, I got involved w/a WV based racing team, going for SCCA national title. Learned a lot as we went through 4 different Lotuses in 2 years. Then I had an XK 150 coupe, and then a 1957 4/4 Morgan series II, managed a team of 3 TR's 3,4,Spit, bought 2 Bugeye Sprites, sold one for $100. Had a 1958 Royal Enfield 700, and a 1957 Triumph Bonneville 650. My wife had in her past a GT6 and an MGB. She holds no grudges and shares my enthusiasm for the sport as we drive to vintage events all over the east coast. Hope to meet you someday, maybe at one of these. Happy to have been accepted a member.

Welcome, Frank - and it's so good to hear that John's TR is still in the family! And still on the BCF!

Mickey

Hello Frank, and welcome to the Forum! We're glad to have you be a part of what's going on here. I know how far you are from Frederick, but the British car club in Frederick is having it's monthly meeting tonight (Tuesday) at Lohr's restaurant on East Patrick Street, 7 pm. Your brother was a valued member, and we would certainly welcome you. If not tonight, next month - third Tuesday of every month. :savewave:

:savewave: Welcome Frank! I too say thank you for keeping John's LBC in the family. We'll look forward to having you on the forum.

Welcome Frank! I had the pleasure of meeting your brother a number of times at Summit Point.
As well as Brit cars, he and I chatted about teaching and airplanes. He was a lovely man and I am still sad that we lost him.

Anyway, like others, I am delighted that his TR will stay in the family.
Perhaps we will meet at Summit? (I'll be at the Turkey Bowl on Saturday, November 26 and will be at the Jefferson 500 next Spring).

Welcome, Frank! Very pleased you decided to join us.

Those Lotus cars you mention... umm... did you by chance have occasion to visit a Lotus dealer in western PA for any reason?

Thanks, Dr. We dealt mostly at The Lotus importer, Peter Pulver in Millerton, NY. His dad had a Buick dealership and he had been a victim of influences of folks involved at nearby Lime Rock Park. Later, it became Lotus East. If we could, we'd get parts from an English Ford dealer, as they were cheaper and usually in stock. We lied about them being for a Lotus so as to avoid extended conversations at the counter. Cars were: '60 Lotus Elite (trailer accident), '62 Super 7 (trailer accident), '64 Super 7, traded up for '64 Comp. Elan (sold after run-offs). Anyway There were no "Lotus Dealers" most places we went. Might have been one in PPG, though.

Argh.. Lotus East!! Sorta th' horse's mouth.

"Those Were the Days, My Friend..."

The westerrn PA dealership was "Sewickley Sales and Service".

I was "embedded". :jester:
