Time to get my wife's '79 MGB up and running. It's been sitting for a year. I just rebuilt the SU's (It's been converted.)... Flushed the fuel... changed the fuel filter and plugs. While the plugs were out I cranked it over til I had oil pressure. I put the plugs in, pulled the choke out and that baby cranked right up!

I will change the oil... and replace the rotors and pads... and the front suspension bushings...

Any other suggestions?

I am looking forward to picking your expert brains as I continue with this project.

Or do you sell your stuff? Anyway great work... I'd reccomend browsing his website.

Mike, first, let me welcome to the friendliest forum on the planet. There are a bunch of very knowledgable folks here, all willing to share experiences and expertise.
Since you're going to be doing the front brakes, it would be a good idea to check the rears, as well. And, it wouldn't hurt to do a complete hydaulic bleed,(including the clutch), essentially flushing the old fluid out of the system. The stuff does absorb water over time, and it's an inexpensive preventative maintenance item.
I wish it were nearer to the time to get my LBC's out of hibernation, but I'm still in full winter mode.

chuck...you're right: on the web its white letters on yellow background but on my machine its black letters on beige background....will figure it out tomorrow - too tired tonight!

Hey everyone... Thanks for the welcome... and thanks for the kudos on my website. I have a somewhat unique circumstance, in that, I am passionate about what I do for a living... AND I get paid well for doing it! Life is good!

The MGB is a '79 roadster with 39,000 miles on it. It has a Piranah ignition... and SU's. Otherwise, I assume it to be stock. I plan to remove the smog stuff this spring. North Carolina exempts cars from emissions inspections at 25 years. I will keep all the stuff in case the pleasure police decide to enact a future law similar to Kali-phorn-ya.

Thanks, also, for the suggestions. I will check the rear brakes and flush the entire brake system.

I am in the process of building a Cobra replica, but want to get 'her' car on the road by spring. Seems like the 'right' thing to do, since she's supported the Cobra project!

Welcome to the Forum! and a far as it being too early to bring the LBS's out of winter storage, I completed the overhaul of the cooling system on Dolly Clementine last Saturday and started her up to check for leaks...it was over 40 degrees and I couldn't resist it...I had to take my sweetheart out for a Valentine's Day ride So I put on a down coat and a hat and gloves

The people at the Liquor Store didn't think much about it when I stopped there for Bailey's, but I got some funny looks at the gas pumps, until I explained to one young lady..."Ya gotta own one to understand"...and drove away

Good for you, Bruce! (Of course, you ARE in SOUTHERN Pennsylvania, where it's just about tropical, compared to up here in the frozen Northeast.)

I've had my B out about the block, too ... but not with the top down.

Soon, soon... Another month, and we'll be seeing green up here... Maybe..

Welcome to the board. Nice bit about the Art Box project. Check all your ground connections (black wires) to make sure they still have good contact with the chassis. There are 3 locations that I know of. (below) That saves all kinds of troubleshooting time later on. Ditto on checking the article on Tony's "Waking up a sleeping B".

Tony - your website is not loading (for me anyway)

Michael, welcome to the forum! Indeed your art work is stunning! Good luck with the MG - the least you can do given your wife's support of your Cobra project

Michael,
Welcome to the forum. Always plenty of good info here. Your website is super! Are you a member of a local car club? If not there are several in NC including one the one I belong to - The NC MG Car club based in Raleigh.
