Hey

Gerry from Glasgow, new to the forum.first time cc owner. I have a 78 Midget 1500, owned for a year but sadly due to my parents both passing away and dealing with it all I havent had any time to work on it, its been under cover since I purchased it.( trickle Charged )

Was a BMW Z4 fan and forum member for a lot of years until a transit decided to rear end it, so after much research I plumped for the Midget and really looking to tapping into the great British experience, and looking forward to getting it ready for the summer days, named my car Catherine after my mother, sad but felt right as she had a midget very similar to mine.

Looking forward to getting into it over the Xmas break, needs a tidy up in areas, mechanical im good with, bodywork isnt my field of expertise, debating on going rubber bumperless, not sure whats involved as ive no fabrication experience, but hopefully can get a steer on changes I want to make to the car from the members.

Thanks

Gerry

Welcome. Personally, I would get rid of the rubber bumpers. I'm not sure what the feelings are on here about that.
Possibly more "how to" info on a UK forum as more people will have done it. Will be interested in the comments.

Hi Gerry - welcome to BCF.

These might give you some good guidance on the bumper conversion.

Print guide attached.

You can also get good advice by going to the BCF MG area, and using the BCF Search feature.

Started my clean up process, painted the airbox, think it came out smashing šŸ˜€

Gerry - you might want to start a new discussion thread in our MG specific forum (linked above). Questions, and photos, will be welcome!

Welcome to the British Car Monetary Contribution Assurance Group!!! I too have thought of converting our 77B to chrome, but will wait til I rear end someone! We have had until "Graham" chrome bumpers. The RB, like a fungus, sort of grows on you!
