Hello;
My name is Jim B.
I am a former engineer, now retired and 82 years of age.
I have a BS in Physics and a PhD in EECS (Electrical engineering and Computer Science).
Over the years I have owned (and loved) many British cars.
195? AH sprite (Bug Eye)
195? Morris Minor
196? Morris Minor
1952 MG-TD.
1961 Jaguar Mark IX sedan.
196? MG-1100 Sedan
I still own the TD.
It was purchased in 1966 and I started a rebuild in 1969.
The chassis was stripped to the frame and rebuilt.
In 1984 or so the engine was re bored, the crank and cam reground, new pistons and the head was redone with bronze inserts and steel valve seats.
I did not like the head ans it was redone by Dave Jacks in 2012.
Back in 1984 I spent two summers learning how to weld at a local tech school. I repaired or replaced a lot of the wood and body panels my self and they were repainted locally while apart around 2014.
You can see the results in the attachment.
I moderate several Yahoo Groups dealing with South Bend lathes and I so have a small machine shop of my own.
I hope I can contribute to the group.
Thanks
Jim B.
