New member with unrestored BJ8

Hi everyone.

I have a BJ8 that has been stored for 34 years. It is in fair shape but needs some rusted areas fixing. I am thinking that I want to make it a "fun to drive" car vs. a show car, primarily because I can't afford a major restoration plus I don't have facilities to do it myself. It has been undersealed but I suspect there may be some rust under the coating. What is a good way to remove the rubberized undercoating?

I live in Richmond VA. Any engine rebuild recommendations?

Welocme...hop over to the Austin Healey Forum in the list of forums running down the left side & all your questions will be answered.

Welcome!

I have a brother who lives in Richmond, but he hardly knows how to use a screwdriver. :jester:

But I can make a recommendation for a good engine builder in VA:

Tivvy Shenton
560 Memorial Drive
Danville, VA 24541-1049
Telephone: (434) 799-5629

I'm pretty sure this contact info is still up to date (but I think he was considering moving). Tivvy is an ex-pat Brit who specializes in vintage British cars. He's very straightforward and will quote you an honest price on work.
