Bought a restoration project 59 MGA 1500 over a dozen years ago, but it never hit first on the list of cars to restore.
Other cars are still ahead of it in my project list.
But it is complete and all the parts are there. They are just really tatty.
But for reasons I don't even understand I decided it was time to run up the engine and see if it actually does run!
It was purported to run when we bought it, but I never tried. It had locked up brakes and a missing left leg.
The swivel pin is stripped out! Darn things are hard to move around on three legs...
But I'll change the oil and filter, run gravity feed gas to the long manifold 45DCOE (the engine compartment body work on that conversion is really fubar) and make sure the dual points are pointing! A bit of Marvel Mystery in the plug holes for good measure.
It turns over freely by hand so wish me luck!
